The Morris Plains School District offers full staff professional development opportunities that fulfill the needs of district goals.In addition, staff led PD sessions are held throughout the year. Last year's PD focussed largely on our new evaluation model: Silver, Strong & Associates. Included in training sessions were valuable tools to help students reach their SGO's as mandated by the state. District goals included increasing vocabulary usage for each student in all subject areas.
Members of the Morris Plains Education Association believe that it is the individual staff member's responsibility to seek Professional Development opportunities that address the needs of the staff member and the students they teach. This has been accomplished through state and/or county offered workshops, professional association affiliate workshops, Master's level coursework, on-line coursework and peer coaching.
Additionally, our members are involved in on-going professional development with regards to new initiatives impacting daily practice and routines. These efforts are supported heavily by NJEA and the Morris County Council of Education Associations.
