Visit the NJEA Action Center to take action on issues affecting public education in New Jersey.

Members of the Morris Plains Education Association share a growing concern with issues and trends that have an adverse effect on our students. We are particularly vocal regarding unfunded mandates, which cost the district thousands of dollars with no researched based evidence that they will have a positive outcome.

There are several initiatives, however, that we believe are in the best interests of the school community. NJEA has shared extensive research and resources to help foster a positive school climate. Among the topics are:

  • Anti-Bullying
  • ESEA
  • Health and Safety
  • School Funding

All staff members are currently undergoing additional 7 hours of training (outside of the school day) in topics that affect our students. Some of those topics are:

  • Online Safety: Cyber Bullying
  • School Intruders
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Confidentiality
  • Child Abuse: Identification & Intervention
  • Student Drug & Alcohol Abuse
  • Drug Free Workplace
  • Discrimination Awareness
  • Playground Supervision
  • Gang Awareness
  • Health Emergencies: Life Threatening Allergies
  • Health Emergencies: Asthma Awareness
  • Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention
