On November 9th, Borough School held our annual Veteran’s Day breakfast and assembly. All 3rd graders had the option of inviting a veteran family member to join us for breakfast and then the assembly. We had 30 members and then an additional 7 from the VFW. The breakfast was sponsored by mostly the MPEA and the bagels from Mascios, our food service. There were new decorations this year including life-sized soldiers, inflatable Uncle Sam hat that held all of the beverages and a new sign welcoming the veterans and letting them know how much we appreciate their service. Each veteran received a special gift- an engraved beverage holder with their branch of service emblem and a special message from Borough School. The assembly included every grade level participating in some way- including original songs, poems, slide shows including pictures provided by our visiting veterans and writings for the Wall of Peace. There was a major focus on the American Flag and our appreciation of it.We enjoyed listening to 4 numbers played by our visiting guests- The US Army Woodwind Quintet. It was a wonderful celebration of patriotism and appreciation of service.
